The PS3 has been online for a solid 10 years now and it's not likely Sony will shut it down any time soon. Even the PSP's digital store made it 12 years, and it didn't have near the success of the PS3. PS4 is on track to outsell PS3 by a long shot, so I imagine its library is here to stay for quite some time. I think the same thing.

The recent news surrounding Sony and its intention to shutter the PS3, PS Vita and PSP stores got me wondering about the PS4. We’re approaching six months since the PS5 released, and while there are plenty of game’s still planned to release on the console, it does feel like we’re approaching the end of its life.
But at the same time, I don't think so, I think Sony will give the PS4 another 1-2 years of useful life. Because as Sony said in the announcement day last year, they won't so easily abandon a community of 115 million players, and by 2023 the PS5 will most likely have a maximum of 25-30 million units sold. It won't get even half of what the PS4 did. The PS4 may actually be cheaper to manufacture than the PS3 in the long run, due to its use of near-custom commodity parts, so expect it to last about as long as the PS2. Was the question you wanted to ask: "How long until Sony releases the PlayStation 5"? Probably 6 years. They seem to stick pretty close to that schedule. BLkE.
