Sep 3, 2022. #2. Hi Snailman. The 2.8 JTD was introduced in 2000. It is characterised by electronically controlled injectors fed from a common rail. I think from your comments that what you may have is an 2.8 idTD. This has a mechanical injection system with pipes running from the pump to the injectors.

I have a 7 berth MH (so its big & heavy) on a 2005 Ducato 2.8 JTD chassis. Only done one 300 mile journey so far and got 25MPG for 55-60MPH. A few questions: 1. Is a ECU remap considered better than a Smartbox or Van Aaken box? 2. I understand MPG should increase by 10-15% and BHP by up to 30 extra. Is that right? 3.
Its a 2.8 jtd common rail diesel . Which will not start. Injector light stays on. Injection system fault. Fiat carried out diagnostics check & stated that the it was the high presure pump (not the 1 in the tank). Ive changed this to no avail. Checked wiring.
